Weekend Soccer

This past weekend was chock full of soccer games from the MLS playoffs to World Cup qualifying and including the U.S. versus Slovakia friendly. Congratulations to Dax McCarty for playing in his first full U.S. Men's national team game and Jeff Cunningham getting his first playing time with the Nats since Sept. 7, 2005. The U.S. ended up falling 1-0 but will have a friendly versus Denmark on Wednesday, Nov. 18 (live at 1:30 p.m. CT on the ESPN networks).

Three teams qualified for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa over the weekend including Cameroon, Nigeria and the surprising New Zealand.

And in the MLS Cup playoff race, the LA Galaxy booked their ticket to the final in Seattle after beating the Houston Dynamo 2-0 in overtime. The game was delayed twice due to the Home Depot Center stadium lights cutting off. Real Salt Lake pulled the upset in Chicago when they won in penalties over the home team the Chicago Fire. This is Salt Lake's first trip to the finals. MLS Cup kicks off in Seattle on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. CT on EPSN.

What soccer games did you watch this past weekend?
